National champions gather in San Pedro del Pinatar for regional petanca tournament

San Pedro del Pinatar, a town in southeastern Spain, recently played host to the second edition of the Torneo de Petanca de San Pedro del Pinatar, a regional petanca tournament that drew over a hundred players from across the region. The event, held at the Concejal Fernando Villena López Park, featured intense competition and a strong sense of sportsmanship, as well as a thriving community spirit.

The tournament, organized in a fixed-doubles format, attracted teams from Murcia, Almeria, and Alicante, with the majority of competitors coming from the national and international petanca circuit. Spanish national champion Jordi Martínez and European bronze medallist "Pirolo" were among the standout players, bringing elite-level precision and strategy to the competition.

The event was structured into two categories: a main competition bracket and a secondary consolation division, ensuring that all teams enjoyed a full day of matches. The success of the tournament has led local officials and sports organizers to plan for an annual return of the Torneo de Petanca, cementing its place on the region's competitive sporting calendar.
