'Most Americans oppose Trump's Canada tariffs'

A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll reveals that the majority of Americans are opposed to President Donald Trump's recent actions, including raising taxes on Canadian goods and renaming Lake Ontario as Lake America. The poll, conducted over three days and involving 1,023 U.S. adults, found that only 20% of respondents supported the higher tariffs on Canadian goods, while 57% were against them and 21% were unsure.

Approximately one-fifth of respondents had not heard about the development. With U.S. households facing financial strain from rising gasoline prices due to the war in Iran and living costs being a top concern for voters ahead of the November midterm elections, Trump's approval rating remains at its lowest in his career. The trade conflict escalated recently when Trump renamed Lake Ontario as Lake America, a move that received strong opposition from 63% of poll respondents, while just 14% supported the name change.
