Maharashtra Healthcare Update: Gadchiroli Hospital Marks 500th Birth, Provides Free Maternal And Neonatal Care In Tribal Region

Gadchiroli, September 1, 2026 - In a significant milestone for maternal and neonatal care in remote tribal regions, Lloyds Kali Ammal Memorial Hospital (LKAMH) in Hedri, Gadchiroli, has delivered its 500th baby. The hospital, established in 2023, aims to provide free healthcare services to underserved communities in Gadchiroli and neighboring areas.

The facility has been instrumental in treating high-risk pregnancies, including cases of pre-eclampsia, diabetes, low platelet counts, foetal distress, prematurity, and complicated twin and multiple pregnancies. Some women required emergency Caesarean sections, while newborns received necessary care in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

B Prabhakaran, Managing Director of Lloyds Metals & Energy Limited, emphasized the importance of these 500 deliveries. "These are 500 families who didn't have to leave home to get the care they needed," he stated.

Kirthy Reddy, Director of Lloyds Infinite Foundation, highlighted the hospital's role in providing timely referrals and coordinated maternal and neonatal care in remote regions. She added that the hospital staff is committed to ensuring that a family's location should not affect the quality of healthcare they receive.

LKAMH plans to expand its maternal and neonatal services in the coming years, furthering its mission to provide accessible and free-of-cost healthcare to remote and tribal communities of Gadchiroli.
