Leeds close in on Nice defender Bard

Leeds United are inching closer to securing a loan deal for Nice defender Melvin Bard, with the opportunity to purchase him at the conclusion of the season. The initial fee for the Frenchman is set at one million euros, and Leeds will also have the option to buy him for an additional five million euros if they choose to do so at the end of the campaign.

The 25-year-old Bard is scheduled to attend a medical at Elland Road on deadline day to finalize the move. This addition will bolster Leeds' defense, as they currently have Gabriel Gudmundsson as their lone left-sided option. Furthermore, Leeds' attacking situation remains unclear, given that Willy Gnonto's transfer to Fiorentina has been finalized, effectively ending a pursuit of Chelsea's Mykhailo Mudryk by the Yorkshire club.

Overall, Leeds will have added six new senior players to their squad this summer, including goalkeeper James Trafford, Michael Zetterer, defenders Nico Elvedi and Tarik Muharemovic, and forward Harry Wilson.
