Italian obesity digital clinic Holifya raises €2M to scale AI-supported GLP-1 care

Italian digital health startup Holifya has secured a €2 million investment round to expand its AI-supported GLP-1 care services. The funding, led by Next Age, includes €1.6 million in equity, €0.4 million in debt capital and grants from various sources like CDP Venture Capital, AC75, Doorway, 20Fund, Serra Elizabeth Falk, and Zooga VC. Notable business angels also participated, including Micol Fornaroli, Pier Francesco Rimbotti, Tommaso Gamaleri, Duccio Vitali, and Matteo Mainetti.

Launched in 2023, Holifya has developed a digital clinic that integrates AI with advanced diagnostics for pharmacologic obesity treatment. The clinic's technology analyzes up to 3,000 biomarkers per patient, including genetic, blood chemistry, and anamnestic data, alongside behavioral and clinical information collected during care. A multidisciplinary team of physicians, nutritionists, nurses, and coaches support the treatment.

Italy has recognized obesity as a chronic disease, and new GLP-1/GIP drugs are transforming treatment options. With over 23 million overweight or obese adults in Italy, around 11 million are eligible for GLP-1 therapy, the largest pool in Europe. However, adoption remains low, with only less than 1% of eligible patients currently in treatment, compared to 2% in Germany and over 4% in the UK.

Holifya has treated over 3,000 patients, achieving up to twice the weight loss of drug-only treatments (-17% vs. -7.1% at 6 months) and more than three times higher adherence. The AI system predicts dropout risk, suggests optimal dosages, and automates follow-ups. The capital will be allocated to strengthen the tech team, develop distribution partnerships, and expand the clinical network.

Holifya aims to become the Italian and European leader in obesity treatment by leveraging AI to support physicians and improve patient outcomes.
