Israel-Greece air defence deal to be 'scaled up' with UAE as contender, sources say

Israel plans to expand the export of its layered air-defence system to Greece, with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a potential next buyer, according to sources. The $3.5bn sale to Greece is seen as a blueprint for how Israel can increase its exports, as the systems are reportedly cheaper and more exportable than those from the United States.

Israel has previously provided air-defence batteries and technicians to the UAE during recent conflicts with Iran. While the UAE already possesses air-defence systems like Patriot and Thaad, it lacks a fully integrated layered system. Talks between Israel, Greece, and the UAE aim to address this gap and help the UAE develop its own comprehensive air defence capabilities.
