INEC issues certificates of return to new Anambra LG chairmen

The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission has recently issued certificates of return to the newly elected 21 local government chairmen in the state. These chairmen were chosen during a local government election held on Saturday. According to the ANSIEC, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) won all 21 chairmanship seats and 364 councillorship positions.

On Tuesday, State Chairman Genevieve Osakwe announced the certificates, explaining that the commission holds the authority to do so. She emphasized the importance of the newly elected officials effectively carrying out their duties. Osakwe also praised the electoral process and expressed confidence in improvements for future elections.

A court has commenced a hearing for a suit related to Oyo Local Government elections, while a low voter turnout has impacted the Anambra LG poll. Pro-Tinubu group is rallying support for the APC in the South-East region. State Chairman Osakwe urged the newly elected officials to prioritize development and good governance in their localities.

Ikechukwu Okakpu, the newly elected chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area, thanked his constituents for trusting him with leadership roles. The ceremony was attended by election observers, security agencies, and members of the media. The ANSIEC declared APGA candidates as winners of all 21 chairmanship positions and 364 councillorship positions in Saturday's local government election.
