Indian national charged with murder after allegedly slashing man’s neck in Singapore’s Tuas

Singaporean content creator Effendi Baba expressed concern over the swift opposition to the potential return of former MP Faishal Ibrahim to the National University of Singapore (NUS). Faishal had stepped down from his political role on July 20, 2023, following a "lapse of judgment." Effendi noted the "immediate pushback" against NUS' consideration of Faishal's return, stating that it did not align with Singapore's values of compassion, rehabilitation, and second chances.

Despite the absence of criminal wrongdoing or inappropriate physical conduct, Effendi emphasized that Faishal's resignation acted as a political accountability measure. However, he argued that this should not equate to a permanent bar on his professional pursuits. Effendi questioned the selective nature of moral judgments, citing examples where infidelity or other blunders did not disqualify individuals from their careers.

He urged for a proportionate response, questioning whether a single personal failing should overshadow an individual's continued professional contributions.
