In meeting with Araghchi, DPM Dar underscores importance of dialogue for regional peace

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar spoke with Iran's Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi prior to the SCO Council of Heads of State gathering in Bishkek on Tuesday. During their conversation, they discussed bilateral ties and happenings in the region, reasserting the significance of ongoing interaction.

Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are crucial for achieving peace and stability in the area, with sincere implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding from June 2026 being the sole path forward. Dar was joined by Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, Communication Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ataullah Tarar, and senior officials on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif's official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic.

The five-day visit encompasses the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting and bilateral engagements in Kyrgyzstan. During the SCO events, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister held individual meetings with leaders of participating nations. On the sidelines of the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting in Bishkek, Foreign Minister Araghchi also met with China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

They exchanged a warm and cordial discussion, reconfirming the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Pakistan and China. They deliberated on issues of mutual interest, including UNGA 2026 in New York and the ongoing UN Secretary-General election process, according to the Foreign Office.
