I’ll do everything possible to help Bawumia win power in 2028 – Boakye Agyarko

The National Chairman hopeful for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, has committed to doing everything within his power to aid the party's primary contender, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in securing victory during the 2028 presidential election. Mr Agyarko emphasized that regaining control of the government would necessitate solidarity, reinvigorated dedication, and a determined initiative to restore faith among the party's grassroots constituents following their loss in the 2024 general election.

He further stated that the party's membership was not sufficiently energized ahead of the 2024 polls and that insufficient preparation played a significant role in their subpar performance. "Our base was not motivated, and there was inadequate preparation for the 2024 election. There was a general sense of demoralisation within the party, which contributed to our defeat," he asserted.

If elected as the National Chairman of the NPP, Mr Agyarko's primary objective would be to assist in rebuilding the party from the grassroots level and establish the requisite conditions for a more robust campaign in 2028. "I will do everything possible to help Dr Bawumia win power in 2028," he declared. Mr Agyarko expressed these sentiments during an interview on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen programme on Monday, August 31, 2026, where he elaborated on his vision for the NPP and the challenges of reviving the party ahead of the upcoming general election.
