Giants sign Charlie Jones to practice squad

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Charlie Jones has been signed to the practice squad of the New York Giants, according to sources. The 2023 fourth-round draft pick has established himself as primarily a punt and kick returner for the Bengals, returning 50 punts for 452 yards and a touchdown, along with 47 kickoff returns for 1,284 yards and two touchdowns.

His career includes eight receptions for 69 yards. However, as the Bengals discovered promising receivers Dohnte Meyers and Colbie Young, as well as a new return man in Ke’Shawn Williams, Jones became less essential to the team. Just two days after being released by the Bengals, Jones was added to the Giants' practice squad. This move could provide Jones with an opportunity to showcase his skills under former Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh, who previously coached Jones at the University of Cincinnati, Indiana University Bloomington, and the Philadelphia Eagles.
