Ghana Medical Trust Fund marks first anniversary, expresses gratitude to Mahama, Akandoh and stakeholders

The Births and Deaths Registry (BDR) in Ghana celebrated its 61st anniversary on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, marking six decades of service to the nation. Established in 1965 under Act 301, the Registry has been instrumental in recording births and deaths, providing vital statistical information vital for national development. In a statement released on the occasion, the Registry stressed the continued importance of accurate data on births and deaths for effective planning, policy formulation, resource allocation, and delivery of public services.

The BDR paid tribute to the dedication of its past and present staff, management, and stakeholders, including the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNECA, ICMPD, the Ghana Health Service, and the Ghana Statistical Service. The Registry acknowledged the need for ongoing modernization and digitalization of services to meet evolving demands, emphasizing improved accessibility, enhanced data quality, and stronger collaboration among stakeholders as crucial for comprehensive civil registration.

The milestone is not just a celebration of the Registry's accomplishments but also a reaffirmation of its commitment to building a more efficient, accessible, inclusive, and responsive system.
