President Bola Tinubu announced on Tuesday that Nigeria's economic reforms have put the nation on track for a $1 trillion economy by 2030. Despite the challenges faced by Nigerians, these reforms have laid the foundation for economic stability, growth, and prosperity. The reforms were implemented since May 29, 2023, and have been met with mixed reactions from the public.

In Kogi State, the Commissioner of Police, Naziru Kankarofi, reported that security forces successfully rescued 15 National Youth Service Corps members and six others abducted by kidnappers in Egume Forest. The operation involved military, police, Department of State Services operatives, local vigilantes, and hunters.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has threatened to boycott the 2027 general election in South-East and "Biafraland" if the Federal Government does not promptly list and hear Nnamdi Kanu's appeal. The IPOB leader has been in detention since 2017, facing charges of secession and terrorism. IPOB's spokesman, Emma Powerful, issued a 14-day ultimatum for the authorities to act.

In a separate incident in the UK, a Nigerian taxi driver, Kolawole Erunkulu, was sentenced to six years in prison for falling asleep at the wheel and causing a fatal crash. Erunkulu had driven for 53 hours over three days before the accident on August 17, 2025, when he struck a man who had stopped in a lay-by. Footage showed him experiencing a microsleep before the crash, which resulted in the death of 59-year-old Philip Dray.
