Daily Times to Honour Tinubu, Obasanjo, Jonathan, Dele Cole, Others at Centenary Celebration

The Daily Times has announced the recipients of the "DTN@100 Heroes Awards," a centenary celebration marking the newspaper's 100 years of publication since 1926. Among those honored are notable figures such as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, and former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Additionally, the list includes former Daily Times managing directors Ambassador Dele Cole, Chief Segun Osoba, and Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi. Other recipients are former Daily Times chief executive Chief Tola Adeniyi, former editors Mr. Onyema Ugochukwu and Mr. Sam Amuka-Pemu, and the founder of The Vanguard Newspaper, Chief Mrs. Grace Oyelede.

The awards ceremony is set to take place on September 3, 2026, at the THISDAY Dome in Abuja. The announcement was made by the Chairman of the DTN@100 Heroes Awards Council, Mr. Bolaji Okusaga, at a press conference in Lagos. The "DTN@100 Heroes Awards" aim to honor the significant contributions of individuals and institutions to Nigeria's political, economic, social, and cultural development over the past century.

Okusaga emphasized that the awards are not merely recognitions of prominence but serve to preserve national memory and celebrate those whose leadership, courage, enterprise, public service, and innovation have shaped Nigeria's progress. The centenary programme also includes the unveiling of the Nigerian Centenary Book of Changemakers, a commemorative publication dedicated to celebrating and preserving the stories and achievements of distinguished Nigerians and institutions whose impact has contributed to the nation's growth and transformation.
