Colts release promising running back from practice squad

The Indianapolis Colts released promising running back Ulysses Bentley on cutdown day despite his emergence as a third running back option. Bentley had been seen as a strong candidate for the team's 53-man roster, especially due to his ability to catch passes out of the backfield. However, he was soon signed to the practice squad on Monday but was released from there the following day.

The Colts subsequently signed running back Davon Booth and guard Reid Holskey to the practice squad on Tuesday, necessitating the release of Bentley. Booth, who went undrafted in April, played 25 starts at Mississippi State and was with the Cleveland Browns during training camp. Holskey, also undrafted in 2025, had a collegiate career making 53 starts at Miami (OH) and spent his rookie year on the Giants and Texans practice squads. Bentley, now a free agent, can sign with another team.
