Coach for men's Asian Games football team eyes gold despite recent struggles

The head coach of Korea's men's national football team, Lee Min-sung, is aiming to secure the nation's fourth consecutive gold medal in the upcoming Asian Games, despite the team's recent struggles. Lee will lead the under-23 national team to the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, which commence in the coming months. Four members of Korea's FIFA World Cup squad from this summer have joined Lee's squad.

Although the team has faced challenges, Lee remains optimistic, stating that experience will prove beneficial in the long run. He assured reporters at the team's training camp in Korea Football Park in Cheonan, near Seoul, that they will work to address weaknesses and strive to win the gold medal. It is worth noting that expectations for the current under-23 generation are relatively low, as Korea did not dominate the Asian Football Confederation U-23 Asian Cup in January, an event widely seen as a precursor to the Asian Games.

The team managed to beat Iran, Lebanon, and Uzbekistan before losing to Japan, a team composed primarily of under-21 players.
