CJP’s ‘historic’ praise, Chief Justice’s ‘gesture’ reply: A top court exchange

The Supreme Court's decision to dismiss cases against NEET-UG paper leak protesters was met with praise from both the Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant, and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a satirical group formed in response to the Chief Justice's remarks. The three-judge bench, led by the Chief Justice, used special powers under Article 142 of the Constitution to scrap the cases, following pressure from the Delhi Police and four state governments.

CJP co-convenor Saurav Das announced the cancellation of the protest planned for September 5, expressing gratitude for the court's decision and the constructive environment created. In response, the Chief Justice acknowledged the gesture, stating that it demonstrated a positive environment beneficial for young individuals. The CJP, which originated as a satirical platform on social media after the Chief Justice's remark about "cockroaches" in the legal profession, gained traction following the Chief Justice's criticism of those with fake degrees entering various professions.
