Calgary home with pro-Trump flags vandalized amid cross-border trade war

In Calgary, a pro-Trump home with large flags has become the target of vandalism amid the recent escalation of the U.S. tariff trade war with Canada. The homeowner, who calls himself a strong supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump, expressed frustration with the anger directed toward him and his family. He stated that while their life is in Canada, he believes in the principles of democracy and opposes any attempts to run Trump supporters out of the country.

The homeowner noted that the vandalism, which includes eggs, dog feces, and online suggestions of arson, is fundamentally offside in any democratic society.

The police have become involved in the incident, but the homeowners fear for their safety and believe there are insufficient grounds to support criminal charges. Since the recent attention, many people have approached the homeowners positively, while others have egged the house and thrown bagged dog excrement onto the property. Some have even made comments on social media suggesting torching their home.

The pro-Trump flags, which include one that says "Trump: Make America Great Again" and another that says "Trump 2028: Third Term and Beyond," are a source of pride for the homeowners. They moved to Canada for work reasons over a decade ago and have built a life in the country. The homeowner believes that the trade fight is fleeting and that Canada and the U.S. will eventually reconcile.

Despite previous incidents, such as graffiti defacing their retaining wall during the 2024 U.S. presidential election, the homeowner remains committed to their home and their support for the Trump administration.
