Brughmans joins Liverpool in deal worth up to £30m

Liverpool has signed 18-year-old Belgian goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans from Genk in a potential £30 million deal, including add-ons. The teenager will commit to a six-year contract with Liverpool and join the club on loan before the 2027-28 season. Standing at 6ft 7in, Brughmans has played all four of Genk's matches this season and has represented his nation at youth levels.

Liverpool currently has four goalkeeping options in Alisson, Giorgi Mamardashvili, Freddie Woodman, and Vitezslav Jaros, but with Alisson's contract ending next summer and Mamardashvili's future uncertain, Brughmans could be a viable option from 2027. The signing comes after Liverpool's global talent department, led by Matt Newberry, signed Senegal's Mor Talla N diaye and Austria's Ifeanyi Ndukwe, both U17 World Cup stars from earlier this year.

Goalkeeper Armin Pecsi and midfielder Samuel Martinez have also joined in the past year from Hungary and Colombia, respectively, with Pecsi spending the season on loan at TSV Hartberg in Germany.
