Bombardier to buy Canadian factory from supplier Mitsubishi Heavy Industries

MONTREAL - Bombardier Inc. has announced plans to acquire Mitsubishi's Canadian aerospace factory, bringing the operation under its own control. The Montreal-based aircraft manufacturer will take over MHI Canada Aerospace Inc.'s facilities in Mississauga, Ontario, which currently employs around 750 Mitsubishi workers. The acquisition will also incorporate the 270,000 square-foot plant that handles wing assembly, fuselage, and flight control installations for several of Bombardier's aircraft.

David Murray, Bombardier's executive vice-president of manufacturing, highlighted the deal as a significant step in the company's long-term growth strategy, coming at a time when demand for its business jets remains strong. The acquisition of the factory, located near Toronto's Pearson airport, remains subject to regulatory approval and is expected to be finalized later this year.
