BJP slams Rahul for ‘spreading falsehood’ on economy: ‘Has taken contract to weaken people’s morale’

In response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's claim that the Indian economy is "dead" and that a large-scale economic crisis is imminent, BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad has accused the Congress leader of spreading falsehoods and weakening public morale. Prasad stated that the latest GDP growth rate of 7.8% in the April-June quarter demonstrated strong economic management by the PM Narendra Modi-led government, even amidst challenges posed by the West Asia conflict and soaring energy prices.

He criticized Gandhi's lack of research and reliance on "cheat-speak", questioning whether Gandhi had taken a contract to undermine public confidence. Prasad highlighted India's economic resilience compared to other countries such as Canada, Germany, the UK, Malaysia, South Korea, and the USA, which all experienced slower growth rates during the same period.

He emphasized that various sectors, including manufacturing, trade, construction, and services, had played a role in India's robust economic performance, attributing the success to the government's policies and the Modi administration's commitment to fostering wealth creation and economic growth.
