BJP slams Rahul for ‘spreading falsehood’ on economy: ‘Has taken contract to weaken people’s morale’

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for alleging that India's economy is "dead" and that a major economic crisis is imminent. Former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, speaking at a press conference, defended the Modi-led government's economic policies and slammed Gandhi for spreading false information.

Prasad argued that India's GDP growth of 7.8% in the April-June quarter, despite global challenges such as the West Asia conflict and high energy prices, demonstrated strong economic management and reflected the government's stable governance. He pointed out that during the same period, many other countries, including Canada, Germany, the UK, Malaysia, and South Korea, experienced significantly lower growth rates.

Prasad emphasized that India's economy had thrived in the face of the Gulf crisis, supply chain issues, and global uncertainty. He accused Gandhi of not doing his homework and relying on "cheat-speak" instead of conducting thorough research. Prasad demanded that Gandhi apologize for his "irresponsible, false, baseless, and mischievous" comments and questioned whether he had taken a contract to weaken the morale of the Indian people.
