Nepal's police have shifted to DNA profiling to identify victims and individual bodies recovered after the sudden flood and landslides that claimed 903 lives and left around 4,247 still missing as of now. The police requested close relatives - parents, or children - of the missing individuals to provide their fresh blood sample for DNA profiling at the Police Pathology Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, or their nearest district police offices.

Foreign residents are asked to undergo DNA profiling at authorized labs in their respective countries and forward the DNA profile copy to Nepal Police via email at dnacodis@nepalpolice.gov.np for matching. According to The Kathmandu Post, the National Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Authority's latest search, rescue, and assistance team, which began at 9 AM on Monday, reported finding 903 bodies, including body parts, in several affected areas.

Chitwan district recorded 272 victims, followed by Nawalparasi East (207) and Nawalparasi West (151), Nuwakot (95), Gorkha (62), Dhading (55), Tanahun (37), and Rasuwa (24). Most bodies were found downstream as the intense flood current carried victims and debris along the river course, according to the news portal. The number of missing persons spiked, with Nuwakot reporting 1,558 people unaccounted for, and Rasuwa with 865 individuals.

A total of 933 individuals were linked to hydroelectric projects, 592 foreign nationals, and 127 locals accompanying foreign tourists are still missing. Authorities reported that 10,451 people have been rescued so far. Air operations played a significant role, with 411 helicopter flights conducted so far (including 17 on Monday).

Air-based rescue by the Nepal Army included 3,344 Nepalese nationals and 252 foreign nationals, including 15 Chinese nationals and seven Indian nationals relocated from a hydroelectric project site on Sunday.
