Aston Villa complete £47m Mbaye signing

Aston Villa has secured the services of 18-year-old Senegalese winger Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris St-Germain for a reported £47 million. The young player netted three goals and provided two assists in 31 appearances across all competitions during PSG's successful defense of their Ligue 1 and Champions League titles last season. Mbaye represented Senegal in all four of their matches at the 2026 World Cup, scoring a goal in a 3-1 defeat against France, making him the youngest African player to score at a men's World Cup.

He joined PSG in 2018 from FC Versailles 78, quickly progressing through their youth academy and making his senior debut at just 16 years old. Born in France, Mbaye switched his international allegiance to Senegal in 2025 after qualifying through his father. The signing follows other recent arrivals at Villa Park, including Alejandro Garnacho, Johan Manzambi, and Nicolas Jackson.

However, manager Unai Emery has seen several key players depart, with Morgan Rogers transferring to Chelsea for £117 million, Ezri Konsa moving to Arsenal for £55 million, and striker Ollie Watkins joining Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia for £51 million.
