AI Agent Security Startup AIR Raises $50 Million to Guard Enterprise Supply Chains

AI security startup AIR has secured $50 million in seed financing to safeguard enterprise software supply chains from autonomous AI agents, TechCrunch reported on September 1. Founded by CEO Yair Saban and CTO Niv Hoffman, both former members of Israel’s Unit 8200 intelligence corps, AIR aims to monitor and secure software supply chains developing around these agents.

The company raised the funds from two seed rounds, led by Sequoia Capital and Greenoaks Capital, respectively. As AI agents employ third-party plug-ins and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to access internet resources, they introduce supply-chain vulnerabilities that could expose malicious actors to manipulated data or code.

AIR's platform addresses these risks by identifying active agents, flagging unauthorized tools, continuously monitoring external components for malicious alterations, and blocking non-compliant software. The startup filters out approximately 27% of agent add-ons and skills currently circulating online. AIR currently serves over 20 corporate clients, with about a quarter of that number being large enterprises.

Saban highlighted the lack of governance surrounding AI agent extensions, likening it to the historical issue of unsigned drivers in enterprise software. As financial institutions and enterprise risk managers grapple with the lack of governance in autonomous systems, AIR's platform helps enforce audit trails and strict access controls before rogue code infiltrates core networks.
