2027: PDP Rep candidate pledges legislation based on constituency needs

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Yenagoa/Kolokuma-Opokuma Federal Constituency, Elvis Donkemezuo, has pledged to create legislation based on the needs and priorities of the local constituents. Donkemezuo expressed this during a Constituency Needs Assessment Survey conducted in both Yenagoa and Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Areas.

According to the survey, 40% of the respondents identified unemployment as a major problem, while 33% pointed to inadequate road networks and insufficient healthcare facilities as pressing concerns. Donkemezuo emphasized that understanding the actual needs of the people should be the foundation for any legislative actions he proposes.

He stated, "To be effective, a lawmaker must first comprehend the problems faced by their constituents before proposing solutions." The PDP candidate highlighted the importance of this survey in preventing elected officials from implementing projects without fully understanding the actual needs of their constituents. Donkemezuo also pledged to sponsor bills and provide interventions that address the identified development gaps, while maintaining continuous engagement with the constituents to evaluate the impact of such initiatives.

He emphasized, "My objective is to serve Yenagoa/Kolokuma-Opokuma with competence, integrity, and deliverable results for the people." Victor Ikem, the lead consultant, noted that the survey was not politically motivated but aimed to identify the core needs of the residents. He further added that the findings aligned with Donkemezuo's political agenda.

The PDP South-South Auditor, Chief Loveday Agbarigbote, commended Donkemezuo's decision to commission the assessment, calling it a significant step towards understanding the constituents' concerns.
