White House asked DPAA what it could do should Trump enter into deal with Kim: DPAA director

The Pentagon agency responsible for recovering U.S. service members remains, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), informed the White House about its readiness to engage with North Korea for the purpose of retrieving remains of American soldiers killed during the Korean War. Kelly McKeague, the director of DPAA, stated this during an online forum, suggesting that the agency believes a potential meeting between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un could lead to the resumption of joint field missions between the two nations, similar to those that took place in 2018.

Trump has expressed his intention to meet with Kim later this year, sparking speculation about the possibility of rekindling his previous diplomatic efforts. McKeague explained to the White House that the DPAA is ready to assist in recovering the remains if a deal is reached with North Korea, and emphasized that the mission can serve as a humanitarian tool for engagement between former adversaries.
