“What A Terrible Call” – MLB Fans React As Fernando Tatis Jr. Gets Ejected After Controversial Base-Running Out Call Vs. Rays

Fernando Tatis Jr. and San Diego Padres fans were left bewildered when the outfielder was ejected for an infraction of the runner's lane on a bunt hit in the seventh inning. The Padres were leading 3-1 with two outs when Tatis Jr. broke away from his assigned lane, causing confusion among the crowd. Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Cam Booser made an error on the throw, sending the ball to the right fielder, which allowed Tatis Jr. to reach second base safely.

However, first-base umpire Cory Blaser ruled Tatis Jr. out for violating the runner's lane rule. Tatis Jr. erupted in frustration, slamming his helmet and confronting the umpires, while Padres manager Craig Stammen also came out to argue. Both were subsequently ejected from the game. The incident proved costly for the Padres, as the Rays rallied to tie the game in the ninth inning, ultimately winning the match in extra innings with a home run by Jonny DeLuca.

Tatis Jr. later expressed his frustration with the ruling, stating that it should not have been made against him, as he has played the game for a long time and deserves answers. Manager Stammen also called for a review of the rule, believing it should be enforced correctly. The ejection proved to be a painful moment for the Padres, who would ultimately lose the game.
