UAE holds Iran 'fully responsible' for thwarted drone attack and calls for halt to hostilities

The United Arab Emirates has firmly blamed Iran for a thwarted drone attack and called for an immediate end to hostilities. The country's Ministry of Defence announced on Monday that they had intercepted a drone within its territorial waters, emphasizing their readiness to handle any potential threats. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced Iran's actions as an "unacceptable act of aggression" and vowed to protect its sovereignty, national security, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens, residents, and visitors.

They clarified that this attack violates all legal and humanitarian norms and called for an immediate halt to further attacks. The UAE maintains that Iran bears full responsibility for these actions and their consequences. Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Defence refuted claims that Al Minhad Air Base near Dubai had been targeted by missiles, stating such reports were false and that the base remained on high alert to defend against external threats.

The Ministry urged the public to trust official sources and avoid spreading false information. Dr Anwar Gargash, a diplomatic adviser to President Sheikh Mohamed, noted that Iranian attacks on Gulf states and Jordan have been unsuccessful. He emphasized the importance of addressing the political and economic aspects of the six-month conflict, warning that a state of neither war nor peace cannot continue indefinitely, especially after the UAE and Jordan responded to renewed Iranian aggression.
