UAE holds Iran 'fully responsible' for thwarted drone attack and calls for halt to hostilities

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has firmly blamed Iran for a thwarted drone attack, deeming it a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the safety of its citizens and residents. The UAE's Ministry of Defence stated on Monday that they had intercepted a drone in its territorial waters, emphasizing their constant vigilance against any threats.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the Iranian attack as an unacceptable act of aggression and vowed they would not permit any threat to their security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, or the safety of their people. They emphasized that this attack is unequivocally condemned under all legal and humanitarian norms, urging an immediate cessation of hostilities.

The UAE explicitly holds Iran responsible for these attacks and their repercussions. Earlier in the day, the UAE had refuted media reports suggesting that Al Minhad Air Base, near Dubai, had been targeted by missiles. The Ministry of Defence clarified that such reports were false and that the base remained in a high state of readiness to respond to any external threats.

They advised the public to rely on official sources for information and to avoid spreading rumors or incorrect data. Dr Anwar Gargash, a diplomatic adviser to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed, stated that Iranian attacks on Gulf states and Jordan had proven to be ineffective. He reiterated the necessity of addressing the political and economic dimensions of the six-month conflict, warning that a state of neither war nor peace cannot endure after the UAE and Jordan respond to renewed Iranian attacks.
