U.S. and Iran trade strikes for the first time in a month

On Wednesday, the United States and Iran exchanged strikes for the first time in a month. Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei, referred to the strike as part of a "chain of atrocities" including a school bombing that killed dozens of children earlier in the conflict. The U.S. was likely responsible for the school attack, though it may have been an error due to outdated intelligence identifying the area as an Iranian military installation.

Iranian Foreign Minister Baqaei warned that Iran would respond to these "savage crimes" with firmness, threatening consequences for those who remain silent on the injustice. Meanwhile, oil prices rose after the trading of another volley of airstrikes between the two nations, indicating a return to direct hostilities and potential setbacks for hopes of ending the war.
