U.S. and Iran trade strikes for the first time in a month

On Sunday, President Donald Trump posted a video on his Truth Social platform claiming Iran had attacked its strategic oil hub, Kharg Island. However, there were no reports of any such attack. Earlier, the U.S. military had struck Iran's Larak Island, located near Iran's coastline in the Strait of Hormuz. The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company stated that Kharg Island's operations were not halted according to Iran's government-affiliated Nour News agency.

A supertanker was hit by two naval mines while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire and grounding the vessel, as reported by the Iranian military. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) alleged that a supertanker had entered the Strait illegally and that the vessel was Iranian. The U.K. Maritime Operations Center reported a tanker strike in the region earlier, but there were no casualties or environmental damage.

Jordan's Armed Forces intercepted eight missiles that entered its airspace, destroying them all before they caused damage. The IRGC retaliated by launching ballistic missiles at U.S. bases in Jordan and targeting a U.S. drone over the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. military then struck two rocket launchers on Iran's Larak Island in response. The IRGC claimed that several fighters and personnel were killed and wounded in the U.S. strike, warning of punishment for the aggressor.
