Tripartite agreement to be called ‘Makkah Defence Alliance’, with first secretary general from Pakistan: Turkish FM Fidan

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced the tripartite agreement between Ankara, Islamabad and Riyadh will be called the "Makkah Defence Alliance", with Pakistan's first secretary general. The first meeting under the agreement took place in Istanbul, attended by the Chiefs of Defence Forces and Army Staff from each country.

The official name of the alliance was revealed, and its secretariat has been established in Riyadh, with Fidan's country appointed to lead it. The ministers and military officials exchanged views on implementing the agreement, emphasizing respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-intervention in internal affairs. They hoped the alliance would lead to a secure, stable and prosperous region, and Fidan stated that the alliance was open to partnerships and participation from other countries, albeit with certain conditions, rules and standards.
