Tim Cook shares emotional farewell on final day as Apple CEO

Tim Cook, Apple's CEO for 15 years, concluded his tenure on August 31, 2026, with an emotional farewell message on social media. In a post on X, Cook expressed his love for the Apple community, stating that his title would change, but his devotion would remain constant. Cook, who succeeded Steve Jobs as CEO in 2011, led the company to success with the introduction of popular products like AirPods and the Apple Watch, as well as revamping Apple's computer line with their own Silicon chip.

Under his leadership, Apple reached a $1 trillion valuation and navigated through global geopolitical challenges, including a humorous exchange with then-President Donald Trump. Cook's departure marks the end of an era, with John Ternus, the current Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering, set to become the new CEO on September 1.

Ternus, at 50, is the same age Cook was when he first took the helm. The company's first major event under Ternus' leadership will occur on September 9, showcasing a new line of iPhones, including the first-ever foldable device.
