Salobreña street food festival returns with tribute bands and a cook-off

Salobreña will host the return of the World Food Truck Festival from September 3rd to 6th, featuring four evenings of international cuisine, free kids' shows, and Spanish rock tributes. The festival, organized by Gastromercados and supported by Salobreña Town Hall, will be held at Parque La Fuente. Food trucks from Cuba, Venezuela, Italy, Mexico, America, and Argentina will line the park, offering a variety of dishes to enjoy on-site or take away.

In addition to the food trucks, tables, chairs, shade, a drinks bar, a kids' zone, cleaning staff, and themed décor will be available for visitors to sit down and enjoy their meals.

To add a competitive element to the festival, a professional jury will taste dishes against set criteria and award a trophy to the winning kitchen on closing night. This feature differentiates the event from standard food truck gatherings. Similar festivals have been held in other areas of southern Spain, attracting crowds to spots like San Pedro's Sabores del Mundo and Elviria's rock-and-food nights.

The Costa Tropical setting of Salobreña provides a quieter backdrop for the festival compared to nearby destinations such as Marbella or Benalmadena. Town Hall officials have requested that visitors treat the park's sculptures and artworks with care, asking them not to lean on them, sit on them, or park drinks and plates on the stonework. The town has successfully managed big crowds in the past, as demonstrated by the California Motor Show held at the Recinto Ferial last winter.
