Sabah CM Hajiji announces RM3,000 aid for each household hit by Kota Kinabalu fire

On August 31, the Sabah government announced a RM3,000 financial aid package for every head of household impacted by a devastating fire in Kampung Lok Buta, Numbak. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor made the announcement, explaining that the funds would be split equally between the state government, the federal government, and Yayasan Kebajikan Sabah.

After visiting the victims at the temporary relief centre in Likas, Hajiji expressed gratitude for the opportunity to meet those affected by the fire. He assured that the state would assist with rebuilding efforts, either at the original site or elsewhere, based on the suitability of the area. The decision would be made in consultation with the State Secretary's Office and Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA).

Even non-Malaysian households affected by the fire would receive RM1,000, while the government would also supply basic necessities such as food and household items to the affected families. The fire erupted around 1:40am, resulting in the loss of three young lives - four-year-old Nana Abdullah, her six-year-old brother Mohd Asrul, and their eight-year-old cousin Nurfarahdilah Mohd Tajihah.
