Rüstung: Israel baut „Achilles-Schild“ für Athen

Athens, Greece: Greece and Israel have signed contracts to build a new, multi-layered air defense system for Greece, dubbed the "Achilles Shield". The project, valued at around three billion euros, will be completed within 35 months, according to the Israeli Defense Ministry. The system will integrate existing Greek systems such as Patriot with Israeli air defense technologies of varying range, including Spyder from Rafael, Barak MX, and David's Sling.

These technologies will be connected via a unified network designed to defend against aircraft, drones, missiles, and ballistic missiles. Central software, powered by artificial intelligence, will analyze data from the various systems, identify and classify threats, and recommend the appropriate defense system. Israel's Defense Ministry announced this as the largest arms export deal in the history of Israeli-Greek relations and one of the largest in Israel's history.

A key demand from Athens was access to the source code of the software to maintain greater influence over the electronic components and future development of the system, according to Greek media reports.
