Pitcher Go Woo-suk becomes free agent with possible reunion with ex-KBO team looming

Go Woo-suk, once a pitcher for South Korea's Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) team, the LG Twins, has become a free agent. The Minnesota Twins, his current team, had designated him for assignment on July 15, giving him the option to either accept the assignment or become a free agent. Go exercised his right to free agency, bypassing a stint with the team's Triple-A affiliate, the St. Paul Saints.

He last pitched for the Twins on July 9, though he lasted only four games and posted a 9.00 ERA. Subsequent minor league appearances saw him struggle further, with a 12.54 ERA in eight outings. The Twins' decision to place Go in the minors stems from their injury-riddled bullpen, which ranks seventh among KBO teams in ERA. Go's return to the KBO, specifically his potential reunion with the LG Twins, could inject much-needed firepower into their pitching staff.

However, he will not be eligible for postseason play, as players must be on an active roster by July 31 to compete in postseason games.
