Perils of a Trump-Kim summit without denuclearization

President Donald Trump's renewed interest in meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has reignited discussions about potential U.S.-North Korea dialogue. Therefore, we must remain vigilant regarding the risks associated with a Trump-Kim summit that omits denuclearization or reaches a settlement on terms favorable to North Korea.

Since the failed Hanoi summit in 2019, seven years have elapsed, and the strategic landscape surrounding the North Korean nuclear issue has undergone significant changes. North Korea now boasts an extensive nuclear arsenal and has formally affirmed its status as a nuclear-armed nation within its constitution, signaling a clear lack of intent to relinquish its nuclear capabilities willingly.
