Pakistan and Turkey Agree to Boost Defense Ties

Pakistan and Türkiye have recently reached an agreement to enhance their joint defense cooperation, as confirmed by a meeting between Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and his Turkish counterpart Yasar Güler in Istanbul. This development follows the inaugural session of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee, which was formed under the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement between the three nations.

During the meeting, Asif and Güler deliberated on regional security issues and reached a consensus on the need to bolster defense collaboration. The strategic trilateral committee aims to serve as a forum for Pakistan, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia to coordinate on matters of strategic, political, and defense nature. The Turkish Armed Forces' Chief of General Staff, General Selcuk Bayraktaroglu, also participated in the meeting.

This move underscores the three countries' commitment to deepening defense coordination under the Makkah agreement framework.
