NPP begins vetting of 47 national officer aspirants today

The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) has commenced the vetting procedure for 47 aspirants vying for positions within the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) 2026 National Officers Elections. This four-day process, which commenced on Monday, August 31 and will conclude on Thursday, September 3, is a pivotal stage in the party's internal electoral proceedings.

Of the 50 aspirants who initially purchased nomination forms, only 47 successfully completed the filing process before the stipulated deadline on Saturday, August 29. The remaining three aspirants, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Evans Kodom, and Perpetual Ekua Lomokie Akwada, withdrew or failed to submit their completed forms on time, respectively.

Boasiako, who sought to contest as the National Chairperson, formally withdrew his candidature. Meanwhile, Kodom, aiming to become the National Communications Director, stepped aside during the filing of Dennis Miracles Aboagye's nomination. Consequently, Aboagye is the sole candidate for this position and will proceed to the vetting stage without opposition, provided he meets all the necessary requirements. The vetting process for the remaining positions will unfold over the following three days.

The four-day vetting exercise will be overseen by the Vetting Committee, chaired by former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Cecilia Abena Dapaah. The committee will evaluate the 47 aspirants to ascertain their eligibility to advance to the subsequent phase of the party's electoral process. The decision made during this vetting will determine the party's representation in the forthcoming 2028 general election.

The NOEC has emphasized the importance of maintaining party unity and fairness throughout the vetting process, assuring stakeholders of their commitment to an orderly, transparent, and credible electoral process.
