Mumbai Lake Levels Update: City's Water Stock At 95.90%, Marginally Down In Last 24 Hours

As of early morning on August 31, 2026, Mumbai's water supply from its seven lakes was at 95.90 percent, according to the city's Hydraulic Engineer's Department. This figure showed a slight decrease from the previous day's 95.93 percent. Collectively, the seven reservoirs contain 13,88,054 million litres of usable water, surpassing their combined live storage capacity of 14,47,363 ML by 95.90 percent.

Of the seven lakes, Vehar remained completely full at 100 percent, while Modak Sagar and Tulsi were nearly at capacity, recording 99.99 percent and 97.71 percent, respectively. Tansa held 98.99 percent, Middle Vaitarna had 98.18 percent, Bhatsa had 95.83 percent, and Upper Vaitarna contained 89.76 percent of its useful water. Light rainfall was recorded in the 24 hours prior to 6 am on Monday, with Upper Vaitarna receiving 5 mm, Modak Sagar 3 mm, and Tansa, Middle Vaitarna, Bhatsa, Vehar, and Tulsi receiving no rain.

Despite the slightly lower water level than at the end of the monsoon season, Mumbai's water supply remains abundant and well above the levels typically seen at this time of year.
