Mirzapur The Movie gets ‘A’ certificate; CBFC orders cuts to intimate scenes and words

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted the gangster thriller Mirzapur: The Movie an 'A' certificate, following several adjustments. The film, produced by Excel Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios, underwent modifications that included muting explicit language and altering certain words. The CBFC requested the removal of cuss words at four points and the substitution of abusive language with "suitable" terms in six instances.

Additionally, the phrase "Galey se lag ja" received a revision. In the initial half of the film, the term "kamar" replaced a word, while in the latter half, the word "lanth" (meaning idiot) was substituted.

To address intimate scenes, the CBFC mandated a 35-second editing for one scene in the first half and another in the second half. Around 50% of the visual and auditory sensual content in these scenes also underwent modifications. Following these alterations, the film was officially awarded an 'A' certificate, boasting a runtime of 197.19 minutes, or 3 hours, 17 minutes, and 19 seconds.

The movie, starring Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, and others, is set to release on September 4. Notably, several actors from the original web series, such as Ravi Kishan and Jitendra Kumar, reprise their roles in the film adaptation.
