Meet Ryan Myers. The Commercial Appeal's newest high school sports writer

Ryan Myers has begun his role as The Commercial Appeal's full-time high school sports reporter, eager to cover the vibrant city of Memphis. He is excited to delve into the city's rich culture, history, and sports scene. Myers, who grew up in Sterling, Virginia, near Washington D.C., has always been passionate about sports media.

After playing multiple sports in high school, he pursued journalism and mass communications at Arizona State University, honing his skills on-air and behind the scenes. Myers then interned at The Dallas Morning News, covering sports in another iconic city. Outside of journalism, he enjoys playing soccer, basketball, and golf, as well as video games and experiencing Memphis' nightlife, concerts, and events.

Myers is looking forward to immersing himself in the Memphis community and is eager to learn from its people. He can be reached at ryan.myers@commercialappeal.com or on X platform @RyanMyers_23.
