Mecca Pact enters founding phase as Turkey says core structure forming

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan announced the establishment of the core structure for the Mecca Pact, describing it as a defensive alliance designed to complement NATO. The agreement, reached in Mecca, emphasizes a principle of defense and aims to promote peace among regional countries. Speaking at a press conference, Fidan called the agreement a "historic step" and highlighted the need for cooperation among regional nations to ensure security and stability.

Fidan confirmed that additional countries may join the Mecca Pact based on its conditions, and work is underway on a roadmap for accession. He stressed that the Mecca Pact is not directed against any specific country. The three initial countries involved in the pact have undertaken steps to create a practical security structure for the region and are currently developing a plan to attract other states to join the alliance.
