Makkah Pact strategic committee discusses joint deterrence mechanisms

The inaugural meeting of the Makkah Pact strategic committee centered on bolstering joint deterrence among Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan in response to regional events. Abdul Karim Shah, Director of the Islamabad Center for Political Studies, recounted that discussions during the committee's maiden gathering revolved around establishing mechanisms for collective deterrence against emergencies, regional tensions, and unrest.

During an interview with Al Ekhbariya TV, Shah elaborated that the meeting also emphasized joint defense industries and monitoring security disturbances across the region.

Following a summit involving foreign and defense ministers, as well as armed forces chiefs from the involved nations in Istanbul, a statement was released by the political and defense strategic committee for the Makkah Pact. The statement underscored the nations' dedication to joint actions aimed at fostering peace and stability in the region.

This commitment entails backing de-escalation efforts and peaceful resolutions to crises, grounded in each country's regional obligations. The participating states further pledged to advance institutionalized cooperation under the Makkah Pact, enhancing collective solidarity and reinforcing the credibility and efficacy of joint deterrence and defense.

This collaboration is seen as pivotal in advancing a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace in the region.
