Madras Bar Association writes to CJI to trace retd judge V Sivagnanam missing in Nepal flood

The Madras Bar Association has reached out to the Chief Justice of India, Surya Kant, and the Prime Minister's Office, pleading for urgent assistance in locating a former Madras High Court judge, Justice V Sivagnanam. The retired judge went missing in Nepal following flash floods that struck the country on August 26. The Bar Associations wrote to the CJI and the PMO, urging them to prioritize the search for Justice Sivagnanam as "urgent and of the highest priority."

The retired judge was traveling with fellow pilgrims in Nepal when the floods hit, but could not be located. His last known contact was with his wife on August 26, and he was last seen near the APF Nepal Border Outpost at Timure, just 100-200 meters away from another bus that was rescued. The Madras Bar Association and the Delhi Tamil Advocates Association (DTAA) have both written to the CJI, expressing their concern for Justice Sivagnanam's safety and safety.

The two Bar Associations are seeking immediate coordination between Indian and Nepalese authorities to locate the former judge and ensure his safe return to India.
