(LEAD) White House asked DPAA what it could do should Trump enter into deal with Kim: DPAA director

The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), led by Kelly McKeague, has informed the White House of its readiness to engage with North Korea in recovering the remains of U.S. troops. McKeague made these remarks during an online forum, stating that the DPAA is "ready for engagement with Pyongyang for recovering the remains of U.S. troops killed during the 1950-53 Korean War."

The DPAA has also suggested a program under which two teams would operate four times a year for 42-day periods at North Korean sites for the recovery work. This comes as President Trump has expressed his intention to meet Kim Jong-un later this year, reigniting speculation about potential diplomatic relations between the two nations.
