Baton Rouge - While the Southeastern Conference (SEC) decided to comply with temporary restraining orders issued by a Louisiana judge, LSU football head coach Lane Kiffin is not ready to fully embrace the ruling's implications. The plaintiffs amended their complaint against the NCAA to include the SEC and SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey in their pursuit of a fifth year of college eligibility.

On Thursday, East Baton Rouge Parish Judge Will Jorden accepted the amended petition from the 33 former college student-athletes, prompting the SEC to follow the court orders temporarily allowing schools to add ex-NFL players to their rosters. Kiffin and his staff have signed commitments from two former professional players, tight end Dae Quan Wright and former New Orleans Saints defensive lineman Zxavian Harris.

In an interview with ESPN, Kiffin expressed that LSU is awaiting Thursday's preliminary hearing to gain more clarity on the situation. Kiffin emphasized that the team is complying with SEC rules as they await final guidelines from the conference, which is scheduled to contest the Temporary Restraining Orders (TROs) in court on Thursday.

If the ruling allowing a fifth year of eligibility is upheld, LSU could potentially add former NFL players like former LSU defensive end Jack Pyburn, who was recently waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, the SEC might also take the issue to higher-level state courts or the federal court level if they were to overturn the decision, which could result in penalties for teams that violate the league's new rule.
