Iran’s Araghchi accuses ‘serpent’ Netanyahu of tricking US into war

Iran's foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, has harshly criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, branding him a "serpent" for allegedly deceiving the United States into waging war against Iran. Speaking in Hebrew, Netanyahu boasted about fooling the US administration into becoming embroiled in a conflict with the Islamic republic, attributing his success to an extensive media campaign spanning over 1,000 hours on American networks.

Araghchi responded in English, praising President Biden's leadership, but vehemently denounced Netanyahu as a serpent.

Tensions between Iran and the US escalated dramatically on February 28 when a US-Israeli strike claimed the life of Iran's supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, along with several high-ranking military officials. Iran retaliated swiftly with attacks across the region, and the conflict continued to expand. Although an April ceasefire brought a measure of peace, sporadic clashes near the strategic Strait of Hormuz have continued, casting doubt on the prospects for a lasting truce.

In response to the ongoing conflict, the US has intensified its economic pressure on Iran, launching strikes against Iranian assets, including the island of Larak. Iran has retaliated by targeting US military bases in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

Last week, Netanyahu ruled out any possibility of an Iran-US deal and denounced Iran's leaders as "savages," escalating the already strained diplomatic relations between the two nations.
