Iran FM accuses ‘serpent’ Netanyahu of tricking US into war

TEHRAN, August 31 — In a sharp rebuke, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi labeled Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a "serpent," alleging the Israeli leader deceived the United States into launching attacks on Iran. Araghchi asserted that Netanyahu openly boasted about "tricking" the U.S. administration into war with Iran through extensive media coverage.

The Foreign Minister criticized Netanyahu's praise of the U.S. president, referring to him as a "serpent." Tensions escalated on February 28 when Iran and the United States engaged in a series of strikes, resulting in the deaths of the Islamic Republic's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other high-ranking officials. Iran retaliated across the region, leading to ongoing conflict and sporadic attacks near the Strait of Hormuz.

While a ceasefire was declared in April, peace prospects remain uncertain, and the U.S. has shifted its strategy to economic sanctions against Iran. Recently, the U.S. targeted Iran's Larak island, and Iran responded by launching attacks on U.S. military bases in Jordan and the UAE. Netanyahu recently ruled out any possibility of an Iran-US agreement and described Iran's leaders as "savages."
